I have the 8.5" 10-bolt ring gear now in my 72 nova. It's a 2.73 ratio. I need a lower gear like a 3.73 or 4.11 perhaps. Can I just remove the existing ring & pinion set and install a new ring & pinion and keep the existing carrier set? that's my understanding of it.
