Some of our communities are very remote and serviced by plane or barge. These communities have a higher cost of living for groceries, home heating fuel and travel. Alberta certainly sticks out since it and Saskatchewan are the only provinces that really have larger settlements above the 49th parallel (Vancouver and Winnipeg are both close to the border), and even then, Saskatoon is more south than Edmonton is.
