Webb26 mars 2024 · If it is one of the thermostat housings that allows you to rotate the neck position, there might be two O-rings inside the housing that you can't see. The one I have has 3 O-rings: one large one on the bottom, and two more on the piece that rotates. Anyone of them could be leaking. Pump and belts done by PO at ~120k, and I just replace the thermostat inlet housing o-ring which I though was causing the leak due to visible seepage. I took it back off, and scrapped off all the gasket parts from the block (again), and put it back on...still leaks! I have taken it off about 3 times, all with the same result, leaking! :thumbdown:

After some crawling around and investigation, I found that I have a coolant leak in the upper radiator hose, where it connects up to the thermostat housing. The leak is coming from the bottom side of the hose. WebbA blown head gasket is bad news. Very bad news. If you think yours is going it requires immediate attention. A head gasket can fail about 7 slightly different ways, which we told you about recently, and all of which are bad news for the engine. If there is a sweet smelling white cloud following behind you at all times, you may have a bad head gasket.

I once had a problem with Fel-pro #1250 gaskets leaking coolant into the valley as well, changed the gaskets to a 1262, or a Mr. Gasket 90103-1 (I'm not positive about the Mr. Gasket number). It was a RPM air gap manifold if that makes any difference. Good luck
Webb25 sep. 2005 · Pneumatic thermostats only make a hissing noise when they are leaking. You can fix it with duct tape quite easily. I dumped my pneumatic thermostat for a hydraulic thermostat that requires no electricity. It is fed by a five gallon bucket in the attic that I only have to refill once a year.
